The Cast on and the first 2 rows of tubular part is the same as Italian Tubular Cast-On for 1x1.
Cast on
- Start with a needle smaller than the normal needle used for ribbing.
- Use non-knot method, twist the yarn to form a stitch
- Use the cast on method in the video, make pair of knit-like and purl-like stitch, starting with a knit and followed by a purl.
- Cast on a total number of desired stitches (divided by 4). The count includes the initial stitch as well, so the last stitch should end with a knit-like stitch.
- Secure the last stitch by rotate either the yarn or the needle.
Tubular part
- Row 1:
- Do not join as of yet. The first stitch should be a purl-like stitch.
- Work only the knit-like st. Slip the purl-like st wyif, and ktbl the knit-like st.
- Row 2:
- Join in the round.
- Work only the purl-like st. Slip the knit st wyib, and purl the purl-like st.
- Row 3:
- Switch to the normal needle for the ribbing.
- The round begins with purl and knit st. Swap these two stitches, by slip knitwise the first 2 sts, then put the purl st (knitwise) back to the left needle, for the knit st on the right needle, directly ktbl. For the following 2, purl and knit as usual.
- Row 4:
- Normal 2x2 ribbing
- Now the round starts with: knit, 2 purl, 2 knit, 2 purl.
